Everyone wants to ride elephants in Thailand. Including me! But… It’s a bad idea !!!
It’s great to see and feel these magical animals from up close. They are sweets, gentile creates despite the fact that they are very big and powerful.
What you don’t see at a fun riding trip, is how they are forced into this amusement for you and me. They are beaten, hit with sticks and hooks and even electrified to force them into behaving unnaturally just for our fun.
This dark side to elephant tourism can only stop if we all leave the elephants in peace and not ride them. If you want to see them, go to an elephant sanctuary but learn from my mistake and please do not ride them.
